Alexa Scarlata

Alexa Scarlata is a postgraduate student in the School of Culture and Communication at The University of Melbourne, Australia. Her Ph.D. project considers the achievements and constraints evident in the recent history of Internet-distributed television in Australia, particularly as this pertains to local drama production. Alexa has presented her research at international conferences and is the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Digital Media and Policy. Her recent publications include book and conference reviews in Communications: The European Journal of Communication Research and the International Journal of Digital Television, and “Locating SVOD in Australia and Mexico: Stan and Blim contend with Netflix” (with Sofia Rios) in Critical Studies in Television 13(4). She has also contributed a chapter on the impact of online distribution on the Australian drama Wentworth to TV Transformations and Transgressions: From Prisoner: Cell Block H to Wentworth (pending).
